'70 - '71 CRUISE BOOK INDEX

DEDICATION

This cruise book is dedicated to our squadron HMM-364, "The Purple Foxes", and to all other men that served with this unit.

Even though the squadron colors are now officially folded and the Marines and Navy Corpsmen that served with this unit are far apart, the Foxes will long be remembered.  It will be remembered by not only those that accomplished our varied missions of support, but also by the "Grunts"  we supported.

Our reputation as "The Purple Foxes" was such that the Division Air Officer stated that many ground units would specifically request "SWIFT" birds for their helicopter support requirements.  Also, it is a well known fact that our unofficial motto, (we) "Give a Shit", was given to us in all sincerity by the Marines we supported daily for many years.

We painted "Give a Shit" on the tails of the aircraft as part of the
squadron logo and dyed our flight suits purple.  The "Give a Shit"
motto became the way we flew and lived.  HMM-364 was a way of
life and a way to survive

Kenneth L. Gross 65-66, Major USMC(Ret)

The spirit of the Foxes will live long thanks to the dedication and hard work of these men.

Webmaster comment:  My apologies to the "Purple Foxes" of the 1970 - 1971 time frame and all others who view this Cruise Book section.  The pages take longer to load than I would prefer.  As time permits, I will correct this problem by reducing the size of the pictures (bites of information that comprise same).
